An Ear For Design? Certainly, a trained eye is a must for a designer. But I believe it is a gifted ear that translates the needs and desires of the client into their reality. I see my role in the design process as one of facilitator, counselor and collaborator. Sometimes I design, sometimes I lead, and sometimes I interpret. But the listening phase is the most important, and where I spend much of my time on a project. My true satisfaction comes when a client says, thats exactly what I wanted. Interior Design is a responsive process, loaded with compromise, a messy art that gets pushed and pulled around, but ends up working. |
